we are having problems with getting our old in home daycare info to file our taxes what do we do?
we need tax id or ssn and neither is being provided by the babysitter so how can we file our taxes without this information
Because they are not a registered daycare nor do they claim the payments as income.
If you deduct this expense either your sitter is in deep trouble or you are. Discuss this with the babysitter before you file. You could end up losing that sitter.

You can’t. You need to let the babysitter know that she is required by law to give you her SSN or TIN for your tax return or you will have to report her to the IRS for withholding tax information.

Or read the question and youll see that the OP said OLD daycare.
I would let them know that you are claiming it and you will provide the IRS all of the info that you can about them and see if you two cant come up with some solution that doesnt put them in jail. Im sure you can work something out.

Agree with Wayne. Tell them you’ll be reporting the expenses with her info and noting that she refused to provide her tax info. She’ll know she’s screwed and you’ll reach some kind of agreement.
