Frankenstein thesis introduction paragraph?
"seeking friends the fiend found enemies…seeking hope he found hate…" (Neilson)..I need help discussing this qoute realtive to the theme of isolation and rejection that relates to the character and actions of the creature in the novel. can anyone help i have a few ideas of beginning the introduction but im not sure if its good enough.

well… because the creature was called a "feind" through most of the novel by victor, you could start by saying the creature had good intentions when starting out (at the beginning of his story to victor when he is talking to the old man) but everything turned out wrong because of how he looked. he wanted to be loved and accepted, but because of the way he was treated by the people, he isolated himself and tried to make people love him, like victor. so because the creature was unloved by victor, he tried to force love by telling victor to make him a woman or everyone victor cared about would be gone (simply said). he went mad with the rejection that he felt and he decided that if he could not be loved, victor was not to be loved either.

if you ever need any more help with lit, message me! i’ll be glad to help!

Order, The
Order, The (2001)

IMDB rating: 4.10

Plot: In the year 1099, during the Crusades in the 11th Century, Christian soldiers arrive in Jerusalem and slaughter the local population. Christian soldier Charles Le Vaillant becomes demoralized by the horrors of war and decides to create a new religious order. This new order brings together, in a peaceful manner, members from the three religions of the region: Christians, Jews, and Muslims. As a self-imposed leader and messiah, Charles writes the sacred texts of the Order. The Christian Crusaders accuse Charles of heresy, and attack him and his disciples. During the attack, the last chapter from the sacred texts becomes lost in the desert. Now, in modern-day Israel, a devout contingent of Le Vaillant’s followers continues to practice his peaceful teachings. But a disciple named Cyrus has a distorted view of the Order’s peaceful intention. Rudy Cafmeyer is a thief and smuggler of valuable historical artifacts. Rudy manages to break into a high security building where he steals a Faberge Egg, the kind decorated with precious stones and manufactured expressly for the Russian Tsars. Needless to say, the alarm goes off, and Rudy has to fight his way out of the building. Despite this theft, Rudy is not really a bad guy. He stole the egg from the personal collection of a powerful Russian mafia boss. Rudy is a loving son who would do anything for his father Oscar “Ozzie” Cafmeyer. Ozzie, an archaeologist and museum curator, discovers the manuscripts that were lost during the crusades. The manuscripts clearly extol interfaith harmony. In those manuscripts, there is also an ancient map of Jerusalem, which shows the location of a mythical Jewish treasure. Ozzie travels to Israel, where Cyrus has him kidnapped. Rudy, who heard the kidnapping take place while talking to Ozzie on the phone, travels to Jerusalem to rescue Oscar. Oscar’s associate, Professor Walt Finley, hands Rudy the key to a safe-deposit box in East Jerusalem before being gunned down by unknown assailants. Israeli Police Chief Ben Ner views Rudy’s arrival with hostility and takes steps to have Rudy deported, but police lieutenant Dalia Barr risks her life and career to help Rudy — she was once a disciple of the Order, but she left when she was 18-years-old. Cyrus uses a car bomb to assassinate the Order’s leader, Pierre Gaudet, and Cyrus steps up his own rhetoric, hoping to inflame his followers. Rudy opens the safe-deposit box and finds a map that shows a series of tunnels and a treasure room beneath Jerusalem. Ben Ner, who has partnered with Cyrus, covets the gold that the underground tunnels lead to, but Cyrus hopes to plant a bomb during Ramadan that will turn the Israelis against the Palestinians. Dalia and Rudy must get to the Order’s monastery, free Ozzie, and prevent an explosion that could push tensions in the area way past the boiling point.

is this a good guitar (takamine g260c bsb acoustic)?
although im a good guitarist i know almost nothing about buying guitars or how to pick out good ones so i decided my best option would be to ask anonymous strangers on the internet for guidance

im a fairly advanced player of fingerstyle (edgar cruz, tommy emanuel, etc.) though i occasionally play some singalongs by stephen lynch

i dont know anything about what makes one guitar better than other, things to avoid, good and bad brands, etc

i cant go to a music store because there arent any in my crappy little town so i have to order on the internet, though if given a choice i always want to try before i buy

this is the one i am probably going to order:

 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001RYA 3RS/sr=1-204/qid=1265434183/ref=olp_prod uct_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1265 434183&sr=1-204&seller=

sure its ‘pretty’, and reasonably priced- but i dont know if its "good" or not and was wondering if any of you could tell or better yet if you have any history with this brand or model

i am in no way a beginner and simply need a nice new guitar (my old one died and this will be my second guitar ever)

help TT-TT
i am poor and live in the middle of nowhere

the most i can afford to spend on a guitar is around $250, i REALLY want to go to a music store or something but the closest one is a 3 1/2 hour drive to vegas. i want one that sounds good and has the cut out shape to reach the higher frets easier

hey man,
well you’re saying you’re a good guitar player. so by now you should know how a good guitar feels or sounds. you don’t need to dish out a lot of cash to find out what you like. I really recommend going to your local guitar center/music store and testing out a bunch. see what feels comfortable, and looks best to you. That guitar you have linked is a cheapo, and really you get what you pay for. There are a few guitar manufacturers that make low to mid range guitars in a similar price range that probably sound and play better (yamaha and ibanez for example) . But it’s all up to you, what you like right? You should really go play a few, expensive and cheap ones. just see what you like and what’s comfortable. I strongly recommend NOT buying a guitar you haven’t played. Also try this site www.musiciansfriend.com to check out some reviews.

it is pretty good but i think dean makes the best acoustic guitars
Danny | Feb 06, 2010

The best guitar I ever bought was a 12 string Samich. I bought it in a pawn shop. To me it had everything, a beautiful sound and a great action. It felt part of me when I played it. I prefer to play a guitar first to see if it’s for me. I live in Spain and the Spanish don’t play the guitar, they touch them.

Do Muslims really support violence?
I’m a Christian and I used to think that Muslim extremists killed people just because. Now I’ve decided to look into it somewhat and found that any Muslim who doesn’t kill anyone during their life is being irrational or incoherent with what they claim to believe–but perhaps a Muslim could prove me wrong. And unless a Muslim DOES prove me wrong, I’m not going to blame those people who curse at Muslim passerby’s. Here are a few verses–note they might be incorrect:

The following are only some of the verses in the Qur’an that can and have been used in the history of Islam in support of violence in the name of God and the glories of martyrdom in a holy war.

2:190-193 "Fight in the cause of God those who fight you … And slay them wherever ye catch them … And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression and there prevail justice and faith in God …"

2:216 "Fighting is prescribed for you and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But God knoweth and ye know not."

2:224 "Then fight in the cause of God and know that God heareth and knoweth all things."

3:157-158 "And if ye are slain or die in the way of God, forgiveness and mercy from God are far better than all they could amass. And if ye die, or are slain, Lo! It is unto God that ye are brought together."

3:169 "Think not of those who are slain in God’s way as dead. Nay, they live finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord."

3:195 "… Those who have … fought or been slain, verily I will blot out from them their iniquities and admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath; a reward from the presence of God …"

4:101 "… For the Unbelievers are unto you open enemies."

4:74, 75 "Let those fight in the cause of God who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of God whether he is slain or gets victory, soon shall we give him a reward of great (value). Those who believe fight in the cause of God and those who reject faith fight in the cause of evil, so fight ye against the friends of Satan, feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan."

4:89 "They but wish that ye should reject faith as they do, and thus be on the same footing as they. But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of God. But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them

Please your thoughts on this poem…not sure if I got it?
You’re stuck in between, a cry and a laugh
too bad to be good, too good to be bad
confused yet so right, defeats with no fight
intrigues with no might, and sees with no sight
your prints are eternally turning to her
the one with the power to conquer and serve
alone you await for a date with the night
impossibly wrong not impossibly right
you’re able to turn a day into years
but Balance is blushing expecting a tear
the wise see right through you
this means nothing to you
the one who sees beyond the gleam
in turn remains unseen.

Is he talking about the mind?????

the human spirit is what I think, I could be wrong.

this has a slight religious tone to it to me…

hm

have a star, maybe others will help out.
Sandy Giggles | Feb 01, 2010

basically its written by someone pining for a girl he loves. that’s the bottom line of the poem -
the first few lines explain the confused state of mind - then, there’s a wait for the date -
there is a desire to gain balance - those who are "wise" see this love-lorn state - but that is of no consequence to our lover -
"the one who sees beyond the gleam" (doesn’t make much sense though ‘beyond the gleam’) - meaning the girl, or the muse of our poet - remains unseen - that’s pretty much it.

the poem is pathetic, y do u bother with it in d first place?

Why is it that all the hottest, coolest celebrities get mood disorders?
Britney Spears has Bipolar and famously cut her hair off in a manic state, and acted wild for a while
Mischa Barton has ’something wrong with her’ that requires her to take medication for her mind.
Mariah Carey had a ‘nervous breakdown’ and is now on medication to keep sane.
Angelina Jolie was diagnosed with ‘Borderline Personality Disorder’ in the 90s and is now on medication, though because shes so pretty and thin - noone suspects a thing.

Do you realise that Britney Spears, Mischa Barton, Mariah Carey and Angelina Jolie are ALL amazing people, and superstars that people used to, and still do IDOLIZE.

Maybe its time for the stigma about mental illness to go away - and for people to realize its more common than you think… Its 1 in 4 people who have depression, anxiety, stress disorder, borderline or manic depression (what britney has).

Oh and Me and my sister BOTH have Bipolar and are doing great!

Im totally slim, and look hotter than most ‘normal people’.

Maybe people should accept others who have the GIFT of being ‘mentally afflicted’ because you also get high intelligence, high sex drive, daring ways and a super human personality and energy with the craziness.

Just remember, everytime you hear someone has a mental illness - There are MANY celebs you LOVE who secretly have one TOO!

Love ya…

xoxo

If I went wake boarding in salt water 3 days after I got my labret pierced would I risk more likely infection?
Well you see I was thinking of getting my labret pierced this friday. Then I’m going away on a family holiday for a week on saturday. i doubt that we will get in the water wakeboarding until sunday. It is a saltwater lake just so you know. And I don’t want it to scar really and I heard that the best way of minimizing any chance of a scar is to keep it clean and not to aggravate it. so I haven’t had any piercings before and I wanted to know what someone with experiance thinks. thanks alot sam king:D

Don’t go into a pool, hot tub, ocean, lake, or any other body of water. It is unsanitary and having a healing piercing submerged in unclean water is bound to cause you irritation.

Sea salt is good to mix with water though (at home). That will help your healing process. But the bacteria in a body of water is not a good thing. I’d wait until you get back.
Ashe | Jan 06, 2010

Actually Salt water is great for piercings!! After you get piercings, piercers tell you to use salt water to clean the wound. I see no problem with you wake boarding after getting your Labret done, just make sure when you get out of the water to give it a give wash. And to just keep yourself clean. Make sure when you are washing your face to use an un scented soap and talk to your piercer about what kind of after care you will need.
Grimm | Jan 06, 2010

I’m not positive but, if anything I think it might help it because salt water has healing properties for the skin. In fact, salt water baths can help reduce inflammation of the skin and increase circulation to promote healing.
Neeners | Jan 06, 2010

Salt water is a disinfectant and wouldn’t harm the recent piercing. But … any water will soften the skin until it is thoroughly dry again.
The force of wake boarding water, and especially the inevitable bailouts, and your bathing suit chafing on it is risky. Delay the piercing a while - it’s only family you are with. Or wear a bandage there? (Ewww.)
Why not ask for advice from the piercing place first - their advice may help you decide? Please wait until after the vacation.
Froggie | Jan 06, 2010

Salt water has way too much salt in it. Yes, cleaning your piercing with sea salt is the best way to keep it clean but you’re controlling how much sea salt goes into the soak, and it’s really not a lot. There is way too much salt in that water…along with other fun bacteria.

I’d definitely wait until after holiday to get it pierced.

Is dragonball evolution worth the time to go to the movies to see it?
is dragonball evolution worth seeing?

No, it’s got nothing but terrible reviews. When I was younger, I was a HARDCORE Dragonball fan, so I still remember quite a bit from the series, and from what I’ve heard, it’s not faithful to the series whatsoever. Apparently even the battle scenes (which was pretty much the core element of the show) are weak. Dragonball is an anime, and there are just things you can do in an anime that will not transfer to film. Period. But even if you didn’t watch the show, you’ll probably just think it’s stupid. It should be interesting to see what Leonardo DiCaprio does with the Akira live-action remake he is producing though.

iNOLICIOUS | Apr 17, 2009

No. No it is not.

I was never a fan of the series but the previews looked ridiculously silly. As someone said before, this is something best left to anime. You can’t make that real life…have people in real life with purple faces or veins sticking out of their head.

I’ve always wondered how they would do super saiyan in that movie, or if it is even possible. It’s just not the same.

Sands of Oblivion (2007)

IMDB rating: 3.70

Plot: In 1923 legendary film director ‘Cecil B. DeMille’ (qv) finished the epic film _Ten Commandments, The (1923)_ (qv). After filming was completed, he bulldozed the sets into the Guadalupe Sand Dunes of the central California coast. Hi reasons for doing so were very mysterious. This story gives an explanation as to why he did it. There was actually a legitimate Egyptian artifact amongst the props but they didn’t know which one was trapping the spirit of an Egyptian avenging god. Mysterious murders and accidents while making the film brings things back to the surface today and it starts all over again.

10 Items or Less
10 Items or Less (2006)

IMDB rating: 6.60

Plot: A well-known actor, who hasn’t accepted a role in four years, is considering a project. The cousin of the director drives him to Archie’s Ranch Market, in Carson, and drops him off to do a little research. He’s fascinated by one of the checkers, Scarlet, a young woman from Spain with a preternatural ability to ring up items at the cash register. She hates her job, stuck at the 10 items or less lane. The actor chats her up, and when her shift ends, he asks for a ride. In the course of the afternoon, he helps her prepare for a job interview. She needs to have confidence, he needs to commit. Human contact, however brief, can change people.

Directors: Silberling Brad

Actors: Freeman Morgan,Hill Jonah,Cannavale Bobby,Nam Leonardo,Norris Scott,Pallana Kumar,Parsons Jim,Ruiz Hector Atreyu,Torres Emiliano,Calizo Shawn,Comedy,Drama,Romance,

Please, at least take a look..? How to do this in a database (MS Access) ?
It’s for my case study, and I’m stuck at this question. They want us to design the database for the company.
** If you don’t want to read the whole thing, you can skip to the next paragraph, but this is the question, it may help you understand better.

The question is, "The database is used for stock control. When an order is entered, the database will indicate if any item has fallen below a set stock level. Design & make a system which will perform this task. (Print a single A4 page which shows any functions, formulae, macros, extra fields or other features you have used. + "Annotate the page to explain how the system works." and "Print a screen showing how the database indicates that an item’s stock level is too low.")

I have a table for orders, a table for customers and a table for items. Let’s say the customer is buying an apple, and the set stock level (on the items table) is 10. I have set a validation rule that alerts me if the user enters less than 10 into the field. However, I do not know how to make the stock level decrease every time I enter an order. How can I do this, and how can I be alerted if the level does go below the set stock level?

Thank you in advance, I really need help.
