Can you self cure depression without any medication or any help?
I’ve been depressed since I was 11 years old. I’ve been trying to cure myself for 9 years and I’ve failed miserably, should I just give in to meds? The thing I fear the most in medicines is that I would lose a part of me, and I feel as if any type of drug I take would only repressed my depression, not cure it. I also believed that you won’t heal fully unless you fix your problem yourself. My family dont believe that depression is real and I’ve never been a big believer in meds, I want to heal spiritually.
I believe so I was diagnosed about 2 years ago and as of now, I feel like the happiest guy ever!
So how did I do it? well it was really simple. I just focused more on how beautiful life is and began meditation to help better myself. I hope you find a way to make yourself feel better

Oh Stormy! I was also in the same situation for 3 years… I took medicines as well but then I came to realize those were just repressing it….. Now I don’t take any meds…! It’s not impossible dear
Be determined don’t give up + i suggest do some exercise + try to socialize with people + meditate for 5-10 mins as u please…. Indulge in other activities like going out with friends, playing games, reading books or or what may ever you like to… I’m sure it will kick that depression out

Cheers!

You can not cure depression by your self; you have tried for 9 years so this tell you NO YOU can not cure your self. Depresion is not like have an infection and a shot will heal it. Major Depression is not cured you take meds and it will make you feel better and even be able to work.(some times). You only learn to cope with the sickness no cure it. You need to see a Psychiatrist who will give you medication. The stress of depression could cause a chemical in balance in the Brain. See the doctor and the Therapist.

This is very common for some people to feel like they will loose a part of themselves due to the administration of medication. If you have been depressed for that long then surely you want to get better. This is a bad part of the year and has been proven that winter affects mood, sometimes called Seasonal Affective Disorder. Sunlight stimulates serotonin receptors in your brain and this is the main regulatory part of the brain, so less sun, less serotonin produced by the brain. I have dysthimia, which is ongoing depression that last a long period of time and I suspect this is what you have too. There are a lot of different medications out there that might help you. I believe Citalopram, which is generic for Celexa is a SSRI type medication which means selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, in other words it makes your brain produce more serotonin and helps with anxiety too. The best treatment is meds with psychotherapy combined. Talk is therapeutic in it’s own way and your parents, especially from the older day’s such told people to get over it or pray about it and it will go away, it will not I can assure you. It is a disease, which requires treatment from an experienced professional. Exercise is a great way to help depression, a light box a 10,000 lux can help stimulate serotonin in the body. So this is my take, exercise+antidepressant medication(monitered very close by your doctor) due to your age+talk therapy and you’ll be up and running, take care and good luck.

Hurting people hurt others. It’s not you. They are the ones who have a problem. They are sick and being mean makes them feel better. People/kids/parents do mean things or lie to manipulate. They just want the reaction so they can get high feel good from it. You have to look at the agenda and not just the words. Abusse is anything that’s not uplifting so forget what truth is being used right then.
When you have a bad past/rejection/father gone it makes things start. Anorexia, Bipolar, Cutting, OCD, anxiety, panic attacks, hearing voices can all come from a tramautic past. It opens doors to the negative and they start to dwell closeby, like addicitons cravings. You can talk to me or google "emotional abuse" Knowing the truth is the step to freedom from pain.
Sickness can be a spiritual problem so praying to get rid of negative things of a spiritual nature is often needed after years of abuse.
Turns out psychiatry is not based on science. Its just like evolutionary theory and a guess. There is no medical background to it at all. I know someone with false diagnoses as a teen and it was all fake. They are happy and take no meds at all. It was only an abusive family causing pain.
1. Google online "Emotional Abuse" Read about bullies online.
2. Realize its their problem.
3. Google- Diet Depression Soda Thyroid
4. Google "Sinners prayer"- stops sadness.
5. Google "Deliverance Prayers"

Depression meds do not work very well, sorry to say. They appear to have some small benefit for people with severe depression, but for mild to moderate depression, they do no better than placebo, research shows. If you’ve been chronically depressed, it could be bipolar II and not major depression - go to
psycheducation.org and read dr. phelp’s book for free. If it’s bipolar, you would need medication. Exercise, social support and light boxes all have a lot of clinical evidence supporting them, but then it’s hard to test them against a placebo, too. I will give you my standard depression tips. Also if you have an abuse history, you need to get therapy, and that will help at least some.
Depression tips (PRINT THEM OUT):
If your depression is worse in winter, try to get more sun. You may have seasonal affective disorder (SAD) or your depression could be partly seasonal. Use a light box (10,000 Lux (light intensity) at about 20
