What is a Political Jingle?

A political jingle is a memorable short tune with a lyric broadcast used in radio and television commercials, which are usually intended to convey an political message or slogan.

Here are some examples:
 http://www.videosift.com/video/JFK-Campa ign-Jingle-Kennedy-Kennedy-Ken-ne-dy-for -me
 http://www.livingroomcandidate.org/comme rcials/1972/nixon-now
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQU1UbUzr QY

This is a bit long, but is a modern version. Traditionally jingles are short, to fit into a paid ad space. With the advent of YouTube, they can be as long as the viewer is willing to sit still for.
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKsoXHYIC qU

Jingles don’t have to be custom written, or directly reference the politician to be effective.

Bill Clinton used Fleetwood Mac’s "Don’t Stop" as his jingle. At the 2000 convention and other campaign events, he ended his speeches by saying, "Keep putting people first. Keep building those bridges. And don’t stop thinking about tomorrow!" Immediately after this sentence, the song began playing over the loudspeakers.

Any suggestions or comments?
By the way, I want to trim my deck down to 60.
My friend says i should remove Torpid Moloch and Puncture Bolt.
Also, I’m trying to get my friend to trade for his Flameblast Dragon.
Yay Magic The Gathering!

Wow, a lot of 1 of cards, but it’s all red, so it works.

In your sideboard, I would nix the gemstone array and the wand of the elements for either more Quenchable Fire or Gutteral Responses. If the opponent isn’t playing blue, quenchable fire is a 6 point card, basically and if he does have blue to play, the Gutteral Response will cancel some of his spells, always a nice trick.

As for cutting 7 cards, I see 1 Puncture Blast that I wouldn’t cut, but no puncture bolts like your friend saw. You can cut the Moloch, but you still would want to cut 6 more cards. I would cut Smoke, Lava Axe, and the Oxidda Golem for sure. You can even add those to your sideboard if you disagree because you sideboard must be 15 cards, no more, no less.

Other cards I would consider, Everlasting Torment to stop life gainers, but the downside is all damage is done as if it had wither. It could kill your creatures just as quickly, but if their creatures are indestructible, -1/-1 counters kill it anyway. Could be another sideboard card for you. I would also run 4 of all cards that would be good to use. The only advantage to running 1 of cards in a deck is spells like cranial extraction and Thought Hemmorage don’t get much out of your deck. Souls Fire might be another cut. When the biggest creature you can get is an 8/8, you might do better with all the x spells you have such as Bane Fire, Demonfire, and Fireball.

Get the Flameblast Dragon if you can. Your theme seems to be to gather a lot of mana and x spell and ping your opponent to death. I think it’s a fun deck, I hope you have fun with it.

Well, First off, in a Burn/Direct Damage deck, you have MINIMAL creatures, so, i’d say take out about 11 creatures. (NOTE: Do not think i am changing your deck completly. I am also only switching up your deck, not sideboard.)

None of those creatures are absolutely good for a burn deck, so here is a list of some good ones.
CREATURES: 12
3x Ball Lightning
2x Spark Elemental
2x Lightning Serpent
2x Brighthearth Banneret
3x Soulbright Flamekin
~~~
For a burn deck, Many cards that you will use are 1-4 mana costing cards. You’ll never need more than 17 land in a burn deck.
17x Mountains
~~~
Plainswalkers
NONE. Chandra’s abilities may be good, but she costs 5 mana to play, which you won’t get for a while with 16 mana. You need 1-4 manna cost cards, 5 is just a little too much.
~~~
INSTANTS/SORCERIES/ENCHANTMENTS: 31
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Shock
3x Seal of Fire
2x Furnace of wrath
2x Banefire
2x Lava Axe
3x Fireball
4x Firebolt
3x Blaze
2x Incinerate
2x Flame Javelin
Hagane Kotetsu | Jun 08, 2009
Definitely get it down to 60 cards - Burn decks have to be able to get to the next card to keep the pressure going. I would get rid of the Furnace of Rath and the Blood Moons. Furnace is too slow and the Blood Moons are good sideboard cards.
Where are your Lightning Bolts? Best burn card ever?
As for the sideboard - to be legal it has to be 15 cards…
is "the passage to india" a good book?
Yes it deals with the racist attitude of the British colonialists towards the people of India.
Tav | Feb 07, 2010
Well, I enjoyed it. But I enjoy a wide range of books. There is a lot in the book about life in India when the British ruled there, and the prejudices of the people who lived during that time. It does manage to tell a story, though, without pounding away at its moral.
Intel demos Larrabee
23.09.09
Apparently running actual pre-production Larrabee hardware, Sean Maloney treated us for the single demo - a motionless camera looking over a shipwrecked boat with pretty water effects and the odd helicopter flying overhead.
Unfortunately for the assembled masses, brief was the pertinent word and very few other details were forthcoming, which considering Larrabee based cards are supposed to be landing early next year is a little disconcerting to say the least.
Despite all indications to the contrary, Intel continues to insist that all things Larrabee continue to bowl along as per plan, but time will soon tell if that’s really the case. µ
If we go back in time a few years to when the Geforce 4 Titanium cards where raining supreme. Creative Labs bought a struggling 3D-Labs company and prepared silicon of their new gaming graphics card. It was to have PS and VS 2.0 and be better (because ATI and nVidia were still running PS 1.3/1.4)and faster than anything else. Then ATI launched the R200 aka the Radeon 9700 and it was so fast that nVidia realed in disbelief and the Creative Labs guys realized that their silicon couldn’t compete, so they kiboshed it. The hardware still surfaced as a workhorse chip for CAD workstations and then soon disappeared into obscurity.
Travelling back even further before Texture and Lighting Transform was added as a hardware feature (aka Geforce 1) Intel had the half-decent i740 discrete graphics cards. In interviews across the web and magazines Intel boldly told us how their new chip the i810 would be an amazing chip, faster and more feature laden than anything else. When it finally was introduced it was no longer a discrete solution and became part of the integrated crap that’s been in Intel’s chipsets for the last 12 years.
Now again Intel is threatening to unveil a superior platform, and while it may do ray-tracing in real time, the question is can it do it fast enough for 140 MegaPixels rendered onscreen per second? (1920×1200x60) Yes it may indeed be as fast as nVidia’s and AMD’s solutions but it’ll likely be a one time deal and then it too will fade into obscurity as the constant product refreshes the Red and Green team will quickly pass it by. It will likely be a CAD/3D Studio Max workstation card only.
Re: Glenn
1. First, it’s Geforce 256, not Geforce 1. there is no such thing as Geforce 1.
2. i740 wasn’t released to compete with Geforce 256- it was to compete against nVidia TNT (yes, the first TNT) and Voodoo 1/2. You know when i740 was released? 1998. You know when Geforce 256 was released? End of 1999.
*roll eyes*
3. Even when the i810 was announced, no one in their right mind think that it could compete against discrete cards of that day. People still remember the lackluster performance of i740. So when Intel announced i810 (for Pentium III), everyone knew that the only thing its gonna beat was all those S3 integrated chipsets (please no Aladin TNT integrated chipset comparison, thanks). Intel only claimed to be faster than those.
Geforce 1 I meant by the original Geforce cards, yes they were called the 256 and came in two flavors, namely with SDR and DDR.
The i740 wasn’t built to compete with the TNT either. Nvidia’s top of the line chip at the time the i740 was intro’d was the Riva 128ZX. ATI had the awful Rage Pro, PowerVR had the PCX2, and Voodoo 1st generation were also out. The TNT was the first graphics cards released by Nvidia with single mass multi-texturing, something Voodoo could do and something Intel couldn’t. The only reason I mentioned the Geforce is because many people here likely don’t remember anything prior to Geforce.
I simply was referencing interviews from the old BOOT era, prior to Maximum PC with various spin doctors from Intel and Creative Labs. I’ve been building computers since 1993 commercially.
Plot: Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo), and Diego (Denis Leary) are currently living in a large valley surrounded by an enormously high ice wall on all sides. When a waterpark begins to form, the trio discovers that the ice wall is actually a wall that is barely holding a massive body of water that could flood the valley to nearly a mile underwater. A vulture tells them that there is a boat at the other end of the valley that may save them all, but they only have 3 days to make it or die. Manny is having trouble facing the fact that he may be the last mammoth left. Along the way, they meet Ellie (Queen Latifah), a mammoth who thinks she is a possum, and her possum brothers Crash (Sean William Scott) and Eddie (Josh Peck). As they begin to travel together, Manny learns, with help from Diego and Sid, that having this new mammoth with them, may not be as bad as Manny makes it out to be while they try to escape the oncoming and continually threatening flood. During their journey, Scrat the sabre-toothed squirrel has his own hilarious adventures that eventually leads to something else entirely.
Brother Bear 2 (2006)
IMDB rating: 6.00
Plot: The bonds of true friendship and love are powerful enough to persist through even the most extreme circumstances, but can even the strongest bond endure when a young man and a young woman are split apart by the spirits? Since being turned into a bear as punishment for his insensitivity in Brother Bear, Kenai has managed to find true happiness and a compelling sense of purpose in his new relationship with his adopted brother Koda. But when Kenai’s old friend Nita prepares for her wedding day with another man, the spirits send a sign indicating that a strong connection still exists between Kenai and Nita. The tribe Shaman suggests that the two join forces in a ritual to sever the bond between them and Nita, newly endowed with the ability to communicate with animals, seeks out Kenai in the woods. Even as the two friends resolutely journey to break the connection between them, the inescapable bond between them strengthens and threatens to disrupt not only Nita’s upcoming marriage, but the special relationship between Kenai and Koda. In the end, destiny may require that each of the three choose between his or her happiness and the happiness of the other two. Like its predecessor Brother Bear, Brother Bear 2 features lush animation; a nice blend of action, suspense, and comedy; and a powerful message. (Ages 3 - 12)
Why do people say that apostates have to be killed in Islam?
"""""”DONT TELL ME WHAT MUSLIMS DO OR WHAT THE STUPID LAWS OF SAUDIA AND IRAN ARE,IM DEFENDING THE QURAN HERE NOT THE LAWS OF IRAN OR SAUDIA""""""
Apostates or Renegades are those who decide to leave the religion of Islam. There is a widely prevailing misconception about this issue. It is generally thought that the Holy Quran (The Muslims Holy Scripture) provides the death sentence for those who desert the religion of Islam. There is not the least ground for such a supposition. The Holy Quran speaks repeatedly of people going back to unbelief after believing, but never once does it say that they should be killed or punished. Although the Holy Quran does provide the death sentence for some situations such as putting a murderer to death, but it never provided death sentence or ordered the death of those who leave Islam.
Let us look at Noble Verse 2:217 "They ask thee (Mohammed) Concerning fighting In the Prohibited Month. Say: Fighting therein Is a grave (offence); but graver is it In the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the sacred Mosque, and drive out its members. Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you turn back from their faith (Islam) and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the hereafter; they will be companions of the fire and will abide therein." Here in this Holy Verse we see that Allah Almighty talks about those who leave Islam, and promises them punishment in the day of judgment. Allah Almighty doesn’t order the death of those people.
Let also look at Noble Verse 5:54 "O ye who believe! If any from among you turn back from his faith, soon will Allah produce a people whom He (Allah) will love as they will love Him lowly with the believers, Mighty against the rejecters, fighting in the way of Allah, and never afraid of the reproachers of such as find fault. That is the Grace of Allah which He will bestow on whom He (Allah) pleaseth. And Allah encompasseth all, and He knoweth all things." Here in this Holy Verse we see again Allah Almighty strengthening the faith of the Muslims in Islam by assuring them that whenever they see Muslims leaving Islam they will also see those who join Islam with strong faith and love to Allah Almighty.
"As most men are rebellious." (5:49), it is inevitable that there should be apostates even from such a religion of reason and common-sense as Islam. In Verse 5:54 above there is a warning to the Muslims that they should not repeat the history of the Jews, and become so self-satisfied or arrogant as to depart from the spirit of Allah’s teaching. If they do, the loss will be their own. Allah’s bounty is not confined to one group or section of humanity. He can always raise up people who will follow the true spirit of Islam. That spirit is defined in two ways:
1- They will love Allah Almighty and Allah Almighty will love them.
2- Amongst the Brethren, their attitude will be that of humility, but to wrongdoers they will offer no compromises, and they will always strive and fight for the truth and right. They will know no fear, either physical, or that more insidious form. They are too great in mind to be haunted by any such thought.
Let us look at Noble Verse 5:55 "(O Muslims) Your (real) friends are (No less than) Allah, His Messenger, and the (Fellowship Of) Believers, those who establish regular prayers and regular charity, and they bow down humbly (in worship)." Here we see Allah Almighty telling Muslims after he warned them from apostates in (5:54) that their real friends are: Allah Almighty, Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him, and the good Muslims who keep up with their prayers and charity, and who humbly worship their God.
Let us look at Noble Verse 3:90 "But those who reject faith after they accepted it, and then go on adding to their defiance of faith never will their repentance be accepted; for they are those who have (of set purpose) gone astray." Here in this holy verse we see Allah Almighty rejecting the faith of those who keep coming back and forth to Islam. In order for a human being to accept Islam as his religion, he must be certain about it first. Allah Almighty’s path is wide open, and his mercy is greater than this universe. This Holy Verse also does not order the death of those who leave Islam.
The path to Allah Almighty is always open and Allah Almighty will be your friend as in verse (5:55) above, and he will forgive your sins for you once you repent as in the following verse: "Except for those that repent (Even) after that, And make amends; for Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful." (3:89).
The Sayings of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, regarding killing the renegades came when Islam was partial and the Muslims were dealing with wars all the time. So if the person wasn’t with the Muslims, then he was certainly with his people, the pagans and the other non-Muslims, and he would’ve then had to join the evil forces to fight the Muslims. So the case back then was different than today.
There is no hell or demons in Judaism, but mistranslations in xtianity and islam’s holy books. Judaism used ancient myth as parables to teach wisdom, but xtianity and islam read it as literal history - foolishness.
To believe in mythology is to be evil to others - believing in a cosmic war between good and evil (fruit of good and bad) makes you paranoid and unaware that we live on a natural planet paradise (out of Eden).
Those who are paranoid of an invisible evil kingdom become the evil others have to endure. You both think you’re helping your god by fighting an imaginary evil kingdom, but what you’re really doing is fighting other people. When xtianity ruled the world it was called the dark ages, muslims are a younger religion, so you haven’t recognized your foolishness yet, but you will.
Anyway, there is no hell or demons, so there is no xtianity or islam - both are mythologies that believe they know their god’s history and god’s business and god’s wars and what god thinks - get over yourselves. You’re both the evil in the world and you do your evil against others while thinking you are good. You’re both deluded by a hallucinating madman - xtians have paul and muslims have mohamed.
xtianity and islam are the abominations in the world and we will continue to live in this age of chaos and war as long as you two abominations continue with your paranoiad beliefs and aggression against others.
Reality will never budge no matter what anyone believes - the whole world can believe against reality, but reality will peacefully go on and nothing interferes with the natural order of our universe, no cosmic wars, no evil, it just is.
Instead of blaming the health ins company for their coverage. Should we be blaming the states Dept of Ins?
Before a company can sell insurance in a state, the plan has to be approved by the state’s department of insurance. I used to work for Transamerica compliance department. When the plan is submitted it the state approves or denies it. So, I’m asking are we blaming the wrong set of people for crappy insurance policies? Health insurance companies are only doing what the state is allowing them to do. If the states departments were doing their jobs, would that help out the sitiuation? Are we blaming the wrong people.
No. You should be blaming the politicians who have taken thirty pieces of silver from the (un)insurance companies to keep the system as it is.  http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/oct /01/lobbyists-millions-obama-healthcare- reform If it was not for that, the USA would have the health system it deserves.
I do not understand why so many Americans have fallen for lies about healthcare in the USA, abroad and also the planned reforms [1]. I mean, if the healthcare system in the USA is so good, why have no other nations taken it up? Could it be due to the following facts?
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [2].
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [3].
Or if the US healthcare system is run so well, why not run the fire service like the healthcare system? [4]
Maybe that is because in the USA, insurance companies push up costs, buy politicians and refuse to pay claims that people pay for [5]. (Look up Wendell Potter on YouTube to hear more if the link below is too long.)
Obama wants to make insurance cheaper, stop insurance companies from refusing health coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and make sure they pay out when they are meant to [6], a system similar to that which works in Taiwan [7]. He debated this before he was elected [8].
Is it right that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, Cuba, Germany and so many other industrialised nations with universal healthcare?
If you think my arguments are wrong, e-mail me with proof. But if you can not, let Obama try to help America. If he fails, vote him out in 2012.
there,s enough mud available to thoroughly coat all participants in this messy process. there are no innocent babes in this business.
Not true because those Departments are required to operate under their respective state laws which can differ dramatically but they can’t lower the cost, etc. … its simply a "yes or no" deal…does it comply or not…there is no fairness clause or any real substantive reviewing process involved. We need more effiective laws that can give these Departments teeth…
Zap | Oct 22, 2009
To some degree, yes.
However, the state departments are in turn implementing the laws that our government makes.
I don’t particularly blame the insurance companies for trying to make a profit - I *DO* blame the current regulatory world for allowing them to do what they do.
Remember, if company A tries to play nice and company B doesn’t play nice, company A will probably end up going out of business because competition is fierce. If the law allows an insurance company to practice a morally bad but profitable tactic, they’re pretty much required to do it to stay in business.
This is the nasty little secret behind capitalism. Generally, yes, it works. Competition makes companies better in the long run - but "better" in this case means "more able to survive competition", not "more compliant to what people actually want."
