Firefox (1982)

IMDB rating: 5.60

Plot: Mitchell Gant, once one of America’s finest fighter pilots, is recruited by NATO, despite continuing bouts with battle shock (incurred in a harrowing mission in which he was captured by the Vietcong but rescued by US Air Force choppers), for a suicide mission - Soviet Russia has developed the ultimate fighter-bomber, the Firefox. A stealth warplane capable of sustained Mach Six speeds and possessing revolutionary thought-guided weaponry, the Firefox can tip the balance of international power, and the prototype’s seat is form-fitted for just one pilot, Colonel Yuri Voskov - to whom Mitchell Gant is the only Western pilot with the identical physical build necessary for the special pressure suit worn. NATO contacts among Soviet dissidents smuggle Gant through Russia to the Red Air Force’s testing facility in southern Ukraine, where he must steal the Firefox - and escape the wrath of the world’s most powerful air-defense grid, and of a second Firefox prototype.

2 questions in 1 Do you believe some ppl can die not knowin happiness? Im?
asking say if someone was rasied in an abusive home and the ending was they were killed. That means they never experience happiness or same goes with love, can some ppl die with a broken heart? whatever happen to life suppose to have balance

My mother died with a broken heart Trust I know even tho she showed loved for herself which was easy to see deep down inside her family did her so wrong and hated her(always wonder wh). The way she treated herself(like she was some queen) while the rest of the family lived like animals. if she have she would give, if she didn’t have she would try to get for others. Others saw her strength SHE HAD A BEAUTIFUL SMILE, Im not exaggerating perfect white teeth beutiful dimples, but the family still hated her she knew this. so deep down inside she probably was tired of life. Why did her family treated her like that if she was the sweetest to them? My family treat me like Im the most naive but TRUST ME when it comes to logic they are dead wrong, dead thoughts dead spirtiually.

As I was walking along a path.. with my first step.. I trod in soggy wet mud about ankle deep.. I thought it was disgusting..I looked for a different path. with my second step… I trod into a puddle of ice cold water..I looked for a different path.. with my next step.. I trod into a bee’s nest.. with my next step… etc..

Unless the steps keep getting worse, most people would settle for mud, once you know what your dealing with you can adjust to navigate it. Sure it may not be a sunshine path filled with nature and beauty.. but as some people find out, the choice of other paths can be a lot worse and a lot more unpredictable.. And if it’s completely unbearable.. most people would change, wouldn’t they?

Even though some of the steps were not nice, some were better than others.. meaning I was happier, so therefore, did know happiness.. I know this is probably not really what your talking about but I hope the metaphor helps..
Where is my mind | Feb 04, 2010

You are alive spiritually and that is the #1 strength, it has the power to see you through all the rest. You cann attract the friend and loving people to be around you from whom you can learn as an adult any ways of loving and being more happy that you missed out on as a child. You have learned from mum that inner strength is more important than looking good or having worldly success. I see your other answers and you are awake to the law of karma so you know in outline "why", you just don’t know who did what to whom in which past life century or where. Diamond in a dung heap, wasn’t she? Can you trust Life that this was sent her for her highest good and also that your love and gratitude to her now will build both your and her future happiness?

Impact Pt I (2008)

IMDB rating: 5.70

Plot: While the entire world watches the largest meteor shower in 10,000 years, a rogue asteroid, hidden by the meteor field, smashes into the moon in a tremendous explosion of rock and debris. Fragments from the asteroid, and even from the moon itself, penetrate Earth’s atmosphere and make impact. Even though the initial damage is minimal, nerves are frayed throughout the planet. There is significant physical damage to the lunar surface, but experts quickly conclude there will be no lasting ramifications. Then strange anomalies begin to manifest themselves on Earth. It starts small - cell phone disruptions, unusual static charges and odd tidal behavior. The world’s leading scientists, including Alex Kittner, Maddie Rhodes and Roland Emerson, begin piecing together evidence that suggests the moon’s properties, and its orbit, may have been permanently altered. Their fears are realized when the anomalies increase to the point where the effect of “simulated” gravity is being manipulated by increased electromagnetic surges coming from the moon. People, cars and other objects are rendered momentarily weightless in random, isolated areas around the globe. Alex, Maddie, Roland and the rest of their team soon discover something far worse - the moon’s new orbit has put it on a collision course with Earth! The world now has 39 days to stop it or Earth, and all of mankind, will perish. After a failed attempt by the United States to destroy the moon, our heroes bring all the countries of the world together in one last hope for humanity - an international mission to the moon itself where astronauts will attempt to reverse the magnetic effects and restore the moon to its original orbit. Alex, whose children are now missing after the latest rampage of anti-gravity, is emotionally torn as he must now join Roland and two other astronauts on the Earth saving mission into space. It is a race against time as the two celestial bodies are drawn closer and closer to impact, the world united, watching and praying, the survival of mankind in the balance.

drug survey……………?
1) do you think illegal drugs should stay illegal?
2) if you had to choose 3 drugs to legalize what would they be?
3) if you think they should stay illegal, do you think alcohol should be made illegalas well? (keep in mind that alcohol would be a class A drug if discovered today and a lot of illegal drugs are actually safer than alcohol)
4) do you see the point in anti-drug campaigns?
5) in my opinion if alcohol is legal they should legalize the use of other drugs, with the exception of things that can cause sudden death (gas, heroin etc) and sell it legal have it taxed etc so if people are guna do drugs anyway they can at least buy it safely without wondering what dodgy crap is in it. and then instead of wasting money on pointless anti-drug campaigns they could put the money to better use, like extra money for hospitals or whatever. do you agree with my opinion or disagree?

im not for or against drugs, but theres no way to completely stop drug use so i dont see the point wasting time and money and police resources trying to stop it
no, most drugs today DONT cause sudden death! yeh they can if you have an underlying medical condition but if you do alcohol is just as dangerous!
you hear about people dying the first time they take ecstasy but ecstasy didnt kill them, stupidity did when they decide to drink ridiculous amounts of water and drinking that amount of water at once can kill you whether youre on drugs or not!
and other times it seems like a drug caused sudden death- again, NOT the drugs! its the dodgy crap mixed in with it, which is why i think they should make it legal so they can regulate drugs and therefore make them, safer
flip me over- youre absolutely right! i dont know the number of wweed related deaths a year (cant imagine its more than one though lol) but i do know on average 2-3 people die from ecstasy each year but theres thousands (or possible even more than that) of alcohol related deaths
yeh i know banning alcohol wouldnt be easy but dont forget drugs werent always illegal! banning alcohol would result in people making it themselves and selling it illegally, so it would be stupid, but thats my point-trying to ban something which will never go away just makes things worse

1 yes
2 none
3 no because when you drink it like you are SUPPOSED to, it won’t be as harmful in the long run.
4 yes, they save lives
5 no they shouldn’t, because almost every drug that’s illegal today can cause a sudden death.

the money they would save from stopping the anti-drug campaigning would go towards hospitals… to save all the people that are dying from drugs. so are you saying by making drugs legal, the drug wars are going to stop? that people are going to be responsible and not steal and kill people? yeah, right…
Iceicelannnnnnnd | Feb 04, 2010

yes. with the exception of marijuana

marijuana, and everything else is 2 crazy

Yes alcohol should be illegal.

yes. there are some frightening drugs out there

In some ways yes, others no. Alcohol to me is definetly a drug and should be illegal if everything else is. I think upper drugs are more dangerous than downers because people on uppers tend to do more crazy things than people on downers. Drugs that tend to make people do things to harm other people should not be legalized. The only drug i can think of that does not make you do harmful things to others is marijuana. your only hurting yourself if you consume it.

1) no
2) weed, shrooms and MDMA
3) i think there are far more alcohol related deaths per year than pot related deaths…no…i know that
4) I understand that people don’t want kids to be lazy bums that do nothing but get high all day…but there are many successful business people who smoke a bowl to unwind from their stressful 6 figure jobs
5) i agree with your opinions….regulating pot would save our economy and even though smoking it may result in lung cancer possibly..so does pollution and cigarettes…they are EVERYWHERE…its the persons chioce and it is a natural plant

1) No not all drugs should stay legal. For example weed should be legalized.
2)Weed, coke, and ecstasy
3)No neither of them should be illegal. Weed makes everything better and more entertaining. smoking 20 joints in a row is safer then drinking 20 beers in a row. People do not choke on their vomit in their sleep because of weed.
4)Yes. To keep kids away from having fun.
5)They should legalize weed. But you should have to be 18 or older to buy it.
Stew-O | Feb 04, 2010

1)I think most drugs should be legal
2)Cannabis, ecstacy, cocaine, heroin

4) If they are good campaigns, which they are not.

I would make thses drugs available at chemists, cheap enough to make importation unprofitable. And I’d make it illegal to inject, but not inhale heroin.

and I’d make it entirely the users liability if the quality of the product kills them. and no obligation on the health service to treat them on drug related incidents and emergencys. You get high at your own responsibility.
Taf | Feb 04, 2010

1. NO
2. marijuana, cocaine, painkillers
3. NO
4. Some are good, others are useless
5. Do not completely agree, some drugs make you crazy and we do not need a lot of crazy people around. The tax money would be nice, the money from no anti-drug campaigns would be nice, and the money not spent on law enforcement would be nice, but you would have to open many drug rehab centers.

1) Yes, except Marijuana.
2) Marijuana, Marijuana, and Marijuana. ;}
3) Alcohol should be illegal because it’s really bad.
4) Some, Not all of them.
5) Completely agree. It is stupid to sell something that harms and kills people as a provin fact and yet weed is still illegal.

We live in a fcked up world where the good is bad and the bad is good.
Weed has never harmed nor killed ANYBODY in the world and yet it is still considered an illegal substance while many die each day by smoking ciggarettes and alcohol, and yet it is still legal.
Like i said,
Fcked up world we live in…

Mike | Feb 04, 2010

well i do believe certain drugs have good reason to be illegal and should stay illegal. however, if i had to choose 2 other drugs to legalize, besides marijuana (of course), i would probably go with acid and shrooms. why? because neither of the two permanently alter or damage the human brain, and people RARELY EVER actually get addicted to these, not to mention that it takes a fairly small amount to get the desired affects.
and marijuana? looking at its affects on the brain and body, it think it might be one of the most misunderstood drugs around. its a hell of a lot less harmful biologically than most people think and pretty much harmless neurologically. im all for legalization on that one. people who are against its legalization should stop being so ignorant towards the actual neurological and biological affects of the drug instead of using dumb, bias-tainted arguments like "its a gateway drug". i mean if that was the case then we should all stop drinking apple juice because it’ll most likely lead to alcoholism..right? lol

As for alcohol, it would be pointless to make illegal. firstly, it has been legal for too long and since it’s something our culture accepts, it wouldnt really impact my life too much but im sure a very high percentage of people in this country simply wouldnt allow it. but from my perspective, alcohol can be a safe drug that people can enjoy and is even known to be healthy to the human body if drunk responsibly (1 or 2 drinks a day lowers LDL "bad" cholesterol and increases HDL "good" cholesterol). so in other words, it decreases risk of heart disease. its a shame that it is so widely abused.

i think anti-drug campaigns arent put out there to persuade those already using the drugs to turn their lives around as much as they are to keep those who havent used anything scared. i think they are just meant to show that society doesnt accept it and its looked down upon; and i think theyre stupid.

i completely agree with your opinion but i highly doubt anything like that will happen anytime soon. a large portion of our society does not accept drugs like weed because that is what they were taught. because they grew up being told that it is dangerous and bad or whatever not because it actually is. its almost as if their brains were fixed when they were young, before they knew the difference.

…btw, i think you meant schedule I narcotic instead of "class A drug"

Looking for constructive criticism on my (short) story?
I need to write a short story for a tafe assignment & this is what I have so far. I would really love any advice or ideas on how to improve on it!

**********************************************************************************************************
A FORK IN THE ROAD

I come from a place where even the land seemed to die of boredom, and the only thing that was smaller than the town itself, was the minds of those who resided there. There never was much to occupy the younger generation, so by the time we were all old enough to buy a packet of cigerettes; we had already entertained ourselves with all the drugs, alcohol, sex & self-provoked drama that we could handle.

I met my ‘first love’ at 15 and together we made plans for our future: We would move away, have a few kids, live happily ever after and give up our dreams without a moments hesitation…

A few years later though, our plans didn’t seem worth the lies, manipulation & games that had begun to play a part in our everyday lives and we eventually parted.

By now I had completely lost sight of those dreams I once had, as well as my confidence & that childish innocence that had kept the world beautiful for so long. I had lost my inspiration & creativity, and with that I had lost myself.

I decided the best place to start when finding oneself was to start within & as I wondered through the avenues of my mind, I came to a curious fork in the road. The fact that it was a fork was not in itself at all unusual, I found myself confronted by choices each day… But there was something new here, something I had never seen before.

I knew that I had come across the first path before, feeling a sense of dejavu as I observed the sign above. It read "New England Highway" & pointed towards a long, black, bitumen road. I had walked this Highway before too, only to find that it was less of a thoroughfare and more of a racetrack which circled the town and lead to nowhere…

The second road however, had eluded me. It too had a sign above, which pointed down a thin, dirt track.

I wondered why someone would build a road so thin, as if to allow only one person at a time & I considered whether this path would also lead me in a circle forevermore…

But the sign above was blank, leaving no answers to my questions & maintaining its mystery. I opened my mouth to exhale a breath that I had held for a little too long & out rushed the butterflies from my stomach, that had been laying dormant since way back in the days when I was happy. I suppose that they were as excited as I.

Something brushed against my side and I turned to find friends and family turning onto the "New England Highway", dissapearing around the first bend that lead to nowhere. I even saw my "first love" among the crowd & I called out to warn him of the dangers & dissapointment that lay ahead… he did not hear me, or would not listen & he too vanished around the first corner. I wondered if he could see the other path… the one with the blank sign above. Could he see but was too afraid, or was it simply not visible to him at all?

I stood for a moment, contemplating where I might go & where I had just been. I must admit I had already made up my mind & I was a little scared of what I might find on the road with the blank sign…
yet that fear was nothing compared to the heartstopping feeling that came with the thought of walking that god damned highway one more time, only to end back up in the town with the dead lands and small minds.

With that thought, I began my journey down road with the blank sign.

i loved it. i have no criticism, constructive or otherwise, i think it’s great.

Kingdom of Heaven
Kingdom of Heaven (2005)

IMDB rating: 6.90

Plot: It is the time of the Crusades during the Middle Ages - the world shaping 200-year collision between Europe and the East. A blacksmith named Balian has lost his family and nearly his faith. The religious wars raging in the far-off Holy Land seem remote to him, yet he is pulled into that immense drama. Amid the pageantry and intrigues of medieval Jerusalem he falls in love, grows into a leader, and ultimately uses all his courage and skill to defend the city against staggering odds. Destiny comes seeking Balian in the form of a great knight, Godfrey of Ibelin, a Crusader briefly home to France from fighting in the East. Revealing himself as Balian’s father, Godfrey shows him the true meaning of knighthood and takes him on a journey across continents to the fabled Holy City. In Jerusalem at that moment–between the Second and Third Crusades–a fragile peace prevails, through the efforts of its enlightened Christian king, Baldwin IV, aided by his advisor Tiberias, and the military restraint of the legendary Muslim leader Saladin. But Baldwin’s days are numbered, and strains of fanaticism, greed, and jealousy among the Crusaders threaten to shatter the truce. King Baldwin’s vision of peace–a kingdom of heaven–is shared by a handful of knights, including Godfrey of Ibelin, who swear to uphold it with their lives and honor. As Godfrey passes his sword to his son, he also passes on that sacred oath: to protect the helpless, safeguard the peace, and work toward harmony between religions and cultures, so that a kingdom of heaven can flourish on earth. Balian takes the sword and steps into history.

Hard Easy, The (2005)

IMDB rating: 5.70

Plot: Although Paul Weston and Roger Hargitay don’t know each other, they have the same problem. They both owe a lot of money, have no conceivable way to pay it back and the clock is ticking. When each gets the opportunity to join a different gang of thieves for a heist that will clear their respective debts, what choice do they possibly have? The good thing is that - it will be an easy robbery - an inside job. Unfortunately, it turns out to be the same robbery, at the same time. Suddenly this used car salesman and this yuppie stock broker find themselves in a gun battle with each other and the police, leaving them no other choice but to team up in order to get away. The hard easy takes place in a dark world where nothing is as it seems and only the lucky survive.

How easy/hard is it to put hubcaps on your car?
I have to buy 4 hubcaps and put them on my car before Friday at 5 (my dad is coming to town and I don’t want him to see my car without hubcaps, long story, accident that I didn’t tell him about because he would be stressed out).

How easy/hard is it to put them on the car, are there any tools I will need to put them on?
I was thinking of just getting a set of 4 cheap ones from Wal Mart..

Replacing wheel covers or hubcaps is a simple job, that usually will require no tools. The only time that you would need any tools would be in the case of a wheel cover that attached to the lug nuts. Some GM cars have these.

If you are putting aftermarket wheel covers on, make sure that you buy the correct size. Line up the tire valve stem (where you put air in the tire, with the hole for it on the wheel cover. push the wheel cover on near the valve stem, and then use the base of your palm to hit the wheel cover on the other side of the wheel . Once you get the wheel cover popped on, make sure that it is seated securely, by running your finger on the edge to be sure that there are no gaps. If there are, hit that spot to push the cover on.

If you have a problem, go to any shop and ask them to assist you. most shops will not even charge a woman for the 3 minutes it will take.

You do not say where you are located, if you are buying wheel covers from a hubcap dealer, they usually will pop them on for you as part of the sale.

Pop old ones off with a screwdriver.

Line up new hubcaps and firmly thump around the edge of it with the palm of your wrist.

Beloved people of all walks of life, have you found God yet? How did you find? What is the truth? Enlighten us?
Greetings,

I used to be a muslim, but have left due to lack of proof. First of all, Islam is a religion, without much archaeological evidence. The Qur’an had about seven variations, and only two went on to survive. The scientific miracles, can be explained, and in certain cases, have flaws, which reflect the beliefs of ancient Greeks.

I have since been on a journey to discover the truth. I have prayed to God, Allah, Jesus, and the Creator, and got no response. How did you discover him? Do you actually believe that we will be condemned for eternity in Hell, just for following the wrong God? Maybe in the west, you have Christ, but what about the people in the East who have Buddha, who is nearly identical to Christ in many ways? http://www.near-death.com/experiences/or igen045.html

I was on the verge of being an Atheist, but cannot be one, as I cannot explain Near Death Experiences. Sure Ketamine, can trigger such affects, and fighter pilots go through similar effects, but there are still a lot of people who go through the unexplainable. How about people who come back, with personality changes, and unknown knowledge? They meet relatives, which they never knew existed, or existed before they were born. They are supposed to be clinically death, and yet come back in unusual circumstances. They have group experiences, which are rare, and yet they remember seeing each other. They had cancer, aids, and such, yet when they return, these symptoms disappear. Yet, an Atheist will find many excuses to disbelieve. I myself, am an Agnostic.

So, how did you find him, or why do you still disbelieve. I am looking for smart, insightful answers, rather than wise a** remarks. Thank you Sir, or Miss.
Interesting points of views so far. Still, I am an outsider, and as an outsider, do you have any ideas, on what the truth might be? Christ is similar to Buddha, and so is one among many. I prayed to him physically, but nothing happened. Any suggestions?

The Qur’an has more than twenty variations.
The argument that one can be agnostic is rejected by Scripture. You either believe that Christ is the one and only true living God or you don
