Just as Claire’s professional relationship with Eric — despite her better judgment — blossoms into a romance, the survivors begin to disappear mysteriously, one by one. Can Any One Help Me With Popular Fairy Tale Morals?
I have to write a french tale involving the phrase " went to heaven with his shoes on"
which sort of means that the death was so sudden ‘they didn’t have any time to take off their shoes’.
I guess what I’m asking for is a popular fairy tale moral that could tie nicely into this expression
thank you

Why is Lost so stupid !! why is it popular ?
Is Lost worst ever television ?
i am watching Season 3 of Lost .. till now the bald guy has punched the heroin addict , the irqi punched the small runt [ Others ] , con guy punched small runt [ Others ] , psycho cop lady punched small runt [ Others ] , large fat guy punched con guy , korean guy punched black single dad , big black guy punched black single dad and korean guy [ actually whacked them with a stick too ] … [ all punches to face only listed ]
in an actual punch you can break a person’s face with a single one .. it was most well depicted in the book Godfather where the younger son [ later the Godfather ] has a sinus condition for many years since he was punched in face ..
a punch to the face is one of the most lethal weapons known …
i mean this series is a joke .. i am in Episode 4 of Season 3 where they told the con guy he had a pacemaker but he had no cut on his chest !! so what is he a dolt ? how can you get a pace maker without a cut being made on your chest ?
why is this such a slow series … and the name of philosophers as name of characters is a cheap trick to gain gravitas ..
just how did this series get so famous …
Band of Brothers and Taken [ Dakota Fanning ] now those were 2 gems .. 10 episodes and hit my soul deep

It’s popular because it is stupid.

Return of the Son of three more questions that weren't worth 5 points to post by themselves (movies)?
.1. When you watched the Epic Battle in "Stars Wars Episode 2," did you find yourself singing, "Send in the Clones."

2a. Did watching the 1999 remake of "Godzilla," Did you find yourself wishing that they’d waited like 3 more years when the CGI Godzilla would look almost as realistic as the guy in the Rubber Suit?

2b. Were you annoyed that the end track was some lame rap song instead of the Blue Oyster Cult classic?

2c. Is it true that they used a CGI Godzilla, because the real one wanted to direct?
2d. (extra credit.) Who gained more weight between "Godzilla, King of the Monsters" and "Godzilla ‘85?" Godzilla or Raymond Burr?

3. Standards and Practices.

a. Would you be annoyed if you shelled out 9 bux for an R-rated movie and found out that the rating was because one of the characters smoked?
b. Should Standards and Practices address the growing problems of Obesity and Diabetes by giving an "R" rating to films where characters solicit a kiss by asking, "Got some sugar for me?" instead of the more politically correct, "Got some artificial sweetener for me?"
Sorry, Fire Opal. Y!A makes me wait at least 4 hours and it’s only been 20 minutes. Besides, you didn’t even bring me an armadillo, much less give me a star.

1. Yes, naturally. Anyone who thinks Lucas should have had Sondheim score the movies would. But then, bright spot!, I remembered the end of the song: "Don’t bother, they’re here." That really cheered me up.

2a. Actually, I found myself wishing I had just sat in the lobby, eating Milk Duds. You can get about four boxes of Milk Duds for the price of admission.

2b. Absolutely not. Blue Oyster Cult is one of the demi-gods in my rock pantheon. You don’t ask demi-gods to muck out the stables, and you don’t ask them to hand the rights over on one of their songs when the movie is the product of mucking out said stables.

2c. No, that is not correct. He did not want to direct, he wanted to be like Tom Cruise and do his own stunts. Unfortunately, liability insurance for a critter that big is, well, proportionately large. And he has those long claws, which break very easily. A broken claw could set the filming back months, so no insurance company was willing to float them a policy. Hence, the CGI, which is, in essence, a stunt double, but one who delivers all the regular lines and does all the regular acting, as well. There was also the question of the fact that he performs nude throughout the film. CGI monster weenies are okay, but live monster weenies would have garnered at least an NC-17 rating, if not an X. Since the target audience was prepubescent boys, that didn’t seem like a good idea to the producers.

2d. Raymond Burr, naturally. Playing Ironsides and spending all of that time in a wheel chair makes you pack on the pounds. It’s okay though, because he still had the better speaking voice, and those piercing dark eyes.

3a. I would be furious. That’s cutting into my business. I frequently go where the conservative non-smoking businessmen hang out, and set up a booth, and give them peep shows of me smoking. I used to have a very strict no touching policy, but now I let them examine my lighter. They really like to click my Zippo.

Realistically, kids are going to experiment with smoking. I say they show it on Sesame Street, so they can be over and done with it by the time they start school. Worst case scenario, they have to provide an outside smoking area for those in kindergarten who would prefer to smoke after their snack, rather than taking a nap.

If I migh add just one detail, Hollywood always gets the smoking business wrong. They tend to show it as a post-coital activity. Everyone know that the real post-coital goings on are that the man rolls over and immediately starts to snore, while the woman goes and eats a whole pint of Cherry Garcia while waiting for her side of the bed to dry. Hollywood needs to invest more in technical advisors.

3b. Hollywood needs to get serious and start addressing the real issue, which is people getting pleasure. Humans are not supposed to get pleasure from anything. NO ONE should be asking for a kiss. No one should be eating. No one should be doing a job they enjoy. No one should be driving a fast car on the Pacific Highway. The only movie that should really be made, and there’s only one, is screen adaptations of Sartre’s "No Exit." If they want to get fancy, they can make it as a musical. Three actors, one room. And the one who smokes doesn’t get to smoke. That way, we’d all learn the only real lesson we need to know: Hell is other people.

You need to send a petition to Hollywood, telling them how things should be. Please send it to me, first, though. They pay a lot more attention to petitions if there are two signatures.

b. see 2a.
c. No. The real Godzilla was in the film. They just used a CGI double for stunts and butt shots.
d. you stumped me on this one. Pass

Bless the Child
Bless the Child (2000)

IMDB rating: 4.80

Plot: Omens and concepts of good vs. evil have no place in Maggie O’Connor’s well-ordered, practical universe. Her life revolves around her job as a nurse at a busy New York hospital, until one rainy night, her sister Jenna abandons her newborn, autistic daughter at her home. Maggie takes the baby in, and she becomes the daughter she never had. Six years later Jenna suddenly re-appears with a mysterious new husband, Eric, and abducts Cody. Despite the fact that Maggie has no legal rights to Cody, FBI agent John Travis (Jimmy Smits), an expert in ritual homicide and occult-related crime, takes up her cause when he realizes that Cody shares the same birth date as several other recently missing children. The little girl, it soon becomes clear, is more than simply “special.” She manifests extraordinary powers that the forces of evil have waited centuries to control, and her abduction sparks a clash between the soldiers of good and evil that can only be resolved, in the end, by the strength of one small child and the love she inspires in those she touches.

So, without the Bible there is no basis for morality?
Psalm 137:9 "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones"

Is it moral to throw babies against rocks? If the bible says we should be happy (or "blessed," as some translations render it) to kill the innocent children of those who worship other gods, then it would be immoral not to do it.
Annika, call me crazy, but calling for the murder of babies is cruel and not moral in the least. I don’t care if it’s not in the context you think it. Smashing babies against rocks would never be moral. Except unless these are zombie/vampire babies.

G?D is the creator: therefor the basis for morality :: instincts & morals were instilled in us by G?D: not the bible

also: telling a story of something that happened is not the same as condoning it :: there is nothing tragic in the bible that isn’t still taking place today =\

Grades mean nothing…….?
Does anyone else think grades mean nothing? I did AS level film studies, english literature and something else a year or two. I got bad grades. For film studies, I had watched more films than anyone in there, they knew nothing about films and only watched common films, like American films(you know the type I mean). They knew nothing about world cinema, my friend who got better grades than me didn’t know what Korea was or that it was a country. She knew nil about films, honestly. I did my coursework on films like suspiria and brazil, and they this one girl did it on the film clueless!!! I got accused of plagiarism for every piece of work I gave in for film studies because of the language I used and how I wrote, he expected me to write like a five year old like the rest of them. The one friend who I mentioned, looked at my work and said maybe it’s because you use words like ‘thus’, I mean WTF! How is that complex language?? He never marked any one of my work and I never got any help and no other teacher would take my side. Yes, I’m going off the track a little there, but basically, do you think grades mean nothing? I’m sure in some areas they mean something, like science, because it’s a matter of remembering things et cetera. But it’s so unfair, in my English lit class the only books people had read was biographies of idiots like Katie Price. They still got better grades than me, because it my coursework I wasn’t stating the obvious and saying what they wanted to say and was saying something different and another view point.
I know all this is going to sound cocky and you’ll think I’m moaning. But see it from my point of view, it’s not nice being accused of plagiarism when you worked so hard, this is why I think grades mean nothing. Stupid people get better grades with things like art, film and english. What do you think?
They don’t show you understand, people in film studies didn’t understand anything about films. And I’m not just saying that.
Doing an essay about the film clueless in Film Studies, does make them stupid filmwise. Trust me, my essays were good. I put so much effort in, my essays were really deep and the way they wa written was good, especially for a 16-17 year old. I’m ‘upset’ because I was accused of plagiarism! When I said about the Korea thing, I was just explaining about how stupid she was. I even knew a girl who thought Jerusalem was a made up place. And my essays wasn’t marked fairly and I wasn’t treated fairly, I was treated badly because I knew more than everyone else in Film Studies and because I wrote more advanced than I was ’supposed’ to, and I’m not an expert on films or english, but more than any of them, and do I get any credit with my grades? No.

Grades have a good purpose, the people who enforce them may not. A good base is destroyed by bias. But trust, having an educated/extended vocabulary/vernacular will get you accused of plagarism more than once, I’ve also been there myself. But I think you may have had more of a teacher/student conflict than a learning problem.

j_cristan | Dec 10, 2009

Grades show how well you understand things, they help you get into college :) grades don’t meaning absolutly nothing….
The Josh | Dec 10, 2009

First of all writing a report/review on Clueless doesn’t make a person "stupid." If there were no guidelines as to the movie genre the reveiwed film had to come from (and it doesn’t sound like there was) then you could have chosen American Pie instead of a more serious or foreign film. You opted to write about a different type of movie, therefore your writing would be different.

I do think that grades mean something. I think that you are upset because in your eyes you read heavier stuff or watched movies that had more to them and you are upset that the teacher didn’t give you more credit for that than the others. But, that wouldn’t be fair. So long as every paper that was turned in was written following the correct guidelines, everyone should be graded equally.

And just because someone doesn’t know Korea is it’s own country (which I find hard to believe) does not mean that they can not watch a movie and write a phenomenal review of it. Knowing geography is not a requirement for writing essays.
