IMDB rating: 6.20 Plot: Stanley is a bellboy at the Fountainbleau Hotel in Miami Beach. It is there that he performs his duties quietly and without a word to anyone. All that he displays are facial expressions and a comedic slapstick style. And anything that can go wrong - does go wrong when Stanley is involved. Then one day, Jerry Lewis, big star, arrives at the hotel and some of the staff notice the striking resemblance. Stanley continues to do what he was hired to do while star Lewis has more trouble with his entourage than the hotel accommodations. |

Three men, a bell boy, and a motel room problem?
Three men walk into a motel and ask for a room. The desk clerk says a room is $30 so each man pays $10 towards the cost. Later, the clerk realizes he made a mistake, that the room should have been $25. He calls the bell boy over and asks him to refund the other $5 to the three men. The bellboy, not wanting to mess with a lot of change dividing the $5 three ways, decides to lie about the price, refunding each man $1 and keeping the other $2 for himself. Ultimately each man paid $9 towards the room and the bellboy got $2, totaling $29. But the original charge was $30, where did the extra $1 go?
There is no missing dollar, it is a trick question.

Where this is getting you is the logic that each man paid $9 for the room, and so it would seem they each get $1 back…but that is how they trick you with this question.
The price of the room should have been $25 but $30 was paid. Forget about the three men and all that - concentrate on the price and the refund. The price should have been $25 and the refund should have been $5. The refund was $3 and the bellboy kept $2…it adds back up to $30 just fine.
