What are good majors that will be useful in this economy?
I’m trying to decide what I will be majoring in college. I’m currently a junior in high school and really need to start thinking hard about this. I originally thought about becoming a psychologist but I’m told that they’re not doing so well in this economy. I know that I do want to go somewhere along those lines but now I’m looking into anthropolgy and social working. I really want to use my communication skills in whatever it is I do.
I’m also the captain of my school’s debate team and have always been interested in law. But I know I don’t want to be a lawyer; that is just too much dedication. However, if there was something else that fell somewhere in there I’d love to look into it. Anyway, I was just looking for some different majors and jobs to look into and how well they are holding up in today’s society. Please help!
If you’re interested in communication I would suggest Government or Politics. There’s a Myriad of different careers to choose from.
Jobs that do well in a tough economy: Medical field professions, teachers, computers, military, and federal government workers.
Try to stick with jobs that people will always need even in hard times.

Can someone explain this time travel conundrum in Stargate Continuum?
SPOILER ALERT - At the end of the movie Mitchel goes back to 1929 and waits 10 years to change history in 1939. At the end of the movie in current time Mitchel has a picture of his grandfather and his parallel universe self. My question is "is Mitchel his own father?" and "how does the grandfather relate to either?".
No, he’s not his own father. How could he be?
His grandfather was the father of his father (obviously). And he still was after the movie. I doubt parallel universe Mitchell started something with his own grandmother (or even his mother (to be his own father), but that would have been a number of years later. Mitchell was born in 1970. So Parallel Mitchell would have been about 80 when Mitchell was born.)
The grandfather is genetically the grandfather of both Parallel and Normal Mitchell, though I doubt he knew about the Parallel one. Also, considering the altered reality, a parallel version of grandfather was parallel Mitchell’s grandfather.

What did you think of the movie "Home of the Brave" with Samuel L. Jackson?
Did you think this was a fairly accurate portrayal of some of the things that enlisted can go through upon returning home?
Also this is kind of a side question, but wouldn’t it be extremely rare for the characters in this movie to have actually served together and all lived so close to one another back home? Especially since it wasn’t set in the city.
it was filmed here in spokane so i think its cool… i also think its sad but a great movie

With a National Guard unit, it is possible for them to be in the same city. Active duty, probably not.
I did not see all of the movie, I saw it on a flight, but it seemed to make the problems extreme. Those problems do happen, but vary in severity.
From my experience on the active duty side, it is not nearly as bad as the movie made it out to be. It happens to some, but not a lot. It seems to happen more on the Guard side from my experience, again, not to the severity in the movie.
A reason for that happening on the guard side more that I read about was that in active duty, chances are if you have a problem there is someone who was there with you that very well may have been in the same event, so there are more people around with the same common experience. Plus there are more people to look out for you for other problems.
On the Guard side, your not surrounded Soldiers, you go back on the assembly line with a lot of people that cannot relate and do not know what to look for as for other problems. If a co-worker is having an alcohol related problem, chances are in the civilian world it may be seen as a normal drunk versus a PTSD issue.

i’m bored! 
i went to the health clinic today with my mother for her blood tests…
and i was sitting there being all bored…
and i saw some ugly looking guy i know from school.
and i was wondering why all guys look the same, no one stands out.
and then i thought of how much bill and tom would stand out if they entered a random health clinic.
and while i was waiting, this couple came in with two twin boys, they looked about 2yrs (:
and i was like aaaaaawwwww! cuz they were like running around everywhere and talking in baby language to each other ;D, so that led me to thinking about bill and tom even more.
and then some random old guy with dreadlocks comes in… and i’m like, OMFG it’s TOM, in like 50 yrs! xD and i started laughing out loud, and i wondered if i wished for bill maybe an old guy with makeup and crazy white hairs will appear… but then i felt stupid. ;D
so yesss, that’s my little story of the day,
